The Mirador Offers a Beautiful Panoramic View of Jaco

The Mirador is a favorite locals spot. Daily you will cross paths with people walking their dogs, mountain biking, jogging or going for a leisurely walk up the steep incline that leads to the Mirador. Mirador which literally translates to “lookout” is a beautiful location to get a panoramic view of Jaco. The hike up to the first platform can be strenuous for those not accustom to walking uphill. You will definitely get your blood pumping but the view is worth the effort.

MiradorJaco_TheCostaRicaTeamYou can see the Mirador from the beach, as a rounded white structure that appears to float amongst a sea of green nestled into the hillside behind Jaco at the south end of town. The entrance is located across from the gas station. The path is lined with an incredible cement wall etched with animals and natural designs, you would think you were walking into a Mayan ruin, rather than a modern day nature trail. If you walk quietly enough, you may be gifted with a view of monkeys or even a sloth. The peace of the wind blowing thorough the trees is enough to enjoy the silence.

While the trail is occasionally used by ATVs and motorcycles, it is typically enjoyed by individuals embracing the beauty of the “jungle” that is so close to the business of our little town of Jaco. You can turn a bend into the hillside and feel as though you are in a whole different world. If you decide to visit the Mirador path, we hope that you will be mindful of the animals and maintain the Pura Vida energy of tranquility that everyone appreciates on their journey to get a different perspective on Jaco bay.
